Morgan McKenzie Behen, 22, passed away on October 13th at C.S. Mott Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan

after an eighteen-month battle with cancer. Morgan taught all who crossed her path what true kindness and

courage looked like. Even on the hardest of days Morgan could always bring a smile to the

faces of friends and family. An avid Detroit sports fan, Morgan enjoyed spending her time at

Red Wings and Tigers games rooting on her favorite teams. As a budding teacher, Morgan

graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor's in Science in Elementary Education. She

was looking forward to continuing her work with children in hopes of working with students

with special needs. Her kind heart and generous spirit shone through even more so when she

was talking about students and how she could best serve them. We remember the many

lessons Morgan taught us: to be brave in the face of fear, to dream big, to never stop

pursuing your passions, and most of all to love unconditionally. Most importantly, because of

Morgan, researchers and doctors will be able to continue to learn from her tumor in hopes

that they find a cure for DIPG. Morgan’s kind heart and gentle spirit will be deeply missed but

her memory will live on. It is with love and thankfulness for Morgan and all the gifts Morgan

continues to give the family, through the memories of Morgan and her passion and desire to

teach others, the Behen family establishes the Morgan Behen Memorial Scholarship Fund at

Oakland University. To assist students that share Morgan’s goal and passion to teach and

leave an impression on the world, one child at a time.
